I personally don't want to see azz & titties, but if that's your thing, then day party your life away my friends!  Don't forget to being plenty $1's

Powder Fete = my choice for Friday night

Atlanta now has TWO jouverts, the new Powder Fete Jouvert above will be held in Lithonia.  I'm looking forwarding to trying out this new jouvert.   FYI to those that previously attended the jouvert held at Morris Brown, the promoters of that event have moved it to Decatur.

Although the event below carries the name "jouvert" it is not truly a jouvert, there will be no paint, powda, wata, etc.  That's not to say that's its not a good event, I just don't want you to be expecting something that you wont get.

As I'm sure you are aware, Atlanta has two carnivals. I know, I know!  There is nothing we can do about that, so we wont dwell on it.  I know a lot of people are concerned because our carnival will not be held in downtown Atlanta this year, DON’T PANIC!  Did you know that carnival has not always been held downtown and we had a dayym good time at the other locations? I want to comfort you by telling you about the other great Atlanta things that are not located in Atlanta.  Did you now that the Atlanta Airport is not located in Atlanta?  The Atlanta Motor Speedway is not located in Atlanta. The Atlanta Steeplechase is not held in Atlanta.  The Atlanta Braves will soon no longer play in Atlanta. Many of the Atlanta Ballet performances are not held in Atlanta.  Six flags over Georgia which many people travel  to Atlanta to visit is not located in Atlanta.  Stay strong my friends, the three ingredients to a good time are Good Chunes, Good Liquor, and Good Friends... we will be A-ok!!!   Visit http://atlantacarnivalbc.com/ for more info.

IceCreamFete - Alcohol IceCream

I want to introduce you to a small business idea that my brother Paco and I are currently working to make a reality.  We decided to combine two things that we love and create a premium alcoholic ice cream and sorbet brand: Ice Cream Fete - www.icecreamfete.com (site still under construction)
What is a fete you ask?  FĂȘte = a large party, celebration or festival.
Paco and I locked ourselves in the lab aka the kitchen, making countless batches to perfect the first four Ice Cream Fete flavors.  We then then invited some friends to sample the flavors and provide feedback.  Our product debuted to raving reviews, with our friends loving the alcohol infused deliciousness as much as we did. At the event, the early arrivers bought out the entire inventory of alcohol infused ice-cream, while others placed orders for pick-up and delivery. The tasting party was a great success, and we just want to say thank you to everyone who came out to support. Second, we would like to thank everyone who continues to place orders, introducing our product to their friends and getting them addicted to the deliciousness as well.
As we continue to develop our packaging and brand, we just want to keep you abreast on our progress and goals. We have secured a website and an Instagram account. Please check both out.  And while we relish at the thought of becoming the number one alcohol infused ice cream brand in Atlanta, we also have our sights set on the national stage.
Short Term Goal:  Introduce our brand and flavors to a growing population of consumers
Long Term Goal:  Get our product carried by liquor stores locally and nationally, including the largest liquor store chain in the world, the United States Military chain of Class Six and Package Stores.
We are currently selling 12oz cups for $10, but will soon be upgrading to 16oz cups (pints).  You might think, “This is an overpriced cup of ice cream” that is until you taste it.  You will then realize it is a premium product, with premium ingredients, and is well worth the price. When compared to other alcohol ice-cream brands, Ice Cream Fete is actually competitively priced.  Yes, the concept of alcohol ice-cream is nothing new. While there are a few good ones, most of the brands that I have tried seem to tailor to a different audience. Most of the major brands create a product that is supposed to go well with something else, but taste like crapola by itself.  Ice Cream Fete is a party in a box and all you need is a spoon for the festivities to begin.
So without further ado, I would like to introduce you to our delicious flavors:
  1. Wotless: Vanilla w/ Crushed Chocolate (Rum, Milk, Vanilla, Coconut, Macadamia Nuts, Chocolate)
  2. Vagabond: Vanilla w/ Sliced Cherries (Rum – Milk, Vanilla, Cherries)
  3. Trouble: Fruit Sherbet ( Rum Almond milk, Strawberries, Mangos, Peaches, Pineapples)
  4. Swanky: Berry Fruity Sorbet (Rum, Strawberries, Mangos, Peaches, Pineapples, Cherries, Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries)
If you have any questions or would like to get your hands on some of this alcohol infused deliciousness, please email  info@icecreamefete.com

Cowgirl for a day

Some of my fellow ATL nomads decided to rent a cabin in the north Georgia mountains on Friday, the 13th.  Me being the wise woman that I am opted to come up the morning of Saturday the 14th instead, I know what goes down in the woods on Friday the 13th!
I’m not gonna lie, I went to Pinterest to research some “cabin attire”  I wanted to make sure I looked the part.  I don’t own any flannel so this light plaid shirt was the closest I could get, but jeans, riding boots and a scarf were a must.
My city slicker peeps and I went horseback riding at www.blanchemanor.com.  $30 for a 1 ½ ride, it was a great deal and the ride was quite enjoyable.  I can definitely say that this adventure was off the beaten path.
City Slicker Selfie
We then went exploring through small town America.  Where else but small town America can you buy guns and drugs at the same place?  The time warp started off cool, but then it got kinda creepy and we opted to haul azz back to our cabin before we came up missing.  They don’t even sell liquor in small town America.  YIKES!!!
Back to our lush 3 floor cabin overlooking beautiful mountains and a river (maybe it was a stream iDunno).  I spent a quiet, romantic afternoon/evening alone with my travel compadre Lil Yellow Mustang lounging on the balcony and enjoying plenty plenty Bacardi and blasting Carib chunes while the homies drank and partied their lives away in the hot tub.
Although my first trip to the woods was very brief, I would definitely do it again.

DIY: Refurbished Carnival Costumes

If you have ever played mas you will understand when I say these 3 costumes above total about $1,500 and it would be such a waste to let them collect dust in a closet.   I usually disassemble old costumes and repurpose the materials when constructing new DIY costumes.  For these I used bits and pieces of old costumes, made some new parts and allowed them to be featured at a local event.

I had to make a smaller bra for the model of this event, so I started with a basic black bra and added some simple gold trim. The costume (Tribe Envy 2015) was so dayym sexy I needed to K.I.S.S. (Keep it Simple Stupid).  This was probably one of the simplest items I’ve ever made.

Next is one you have seen several times in various stages.  I’ve provided the links to the bra and belt bra.  I was in such in a rush to push out product for this event, I didn’t have time to properly document the creation of the feather collar.  Below is a brief How To, but I also included a link to a previous Feather Collar I made.
I’m starting to get the hang of this, no more paying $100-200 for collar additions from carnival  bands.  Link to Bra DIY; Link to Belt DIY; Link to a similar Feather Collar DIY
Collar How To:
1)      Cut rounded shape from a cardboard box
2)      Cut and hot glued wire to the shape of the cardboard
3)      Upholstered the cardboard with fabric
4)      Glued a white trim along bottom half of collar that will be used to secure the collar against the models back
5)      Glued feathers to the shape of the collar
6)      Glued black trim the inside of the collar to secure the feathers in place
7)      Glued silver trim to make it a lil sparkly

The next bra was made with the bra above for an event last year.  The headpiece and collar are from the DIY costume I made for Atlanta Carnival 2014
